US State Department names Vico Sotto as an International Anticorruption Champion.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced the names of 12 individuals around the world who they recognize as International Anticorruption Champions. Among the named personalities is Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto. The list also includes Ardian Dvorani of Albania, Diana Salazar of Ecuador, Sophia Pretrick of the Federated States of Micronesia, Juan Francisco Sandoval Alfaro of Guatemala, Ibrahima Kalil Gueye of Guinea, Anjali Bhardwaj of India, Dhuha A. Mohammed of Iraq, Bolot Tmirov of the Krygz Republic, Mustafa Abdullah Sanalaia of Libya, Francis Ben Kaifala of Sierra Leone and Ruslan Ryaboshapka of Ukraine.
US Secretary of State Blinken, in his statement says that President Joe Biden emphasized the country’s commitment to truth, transparency, and accountability is a mission that we must live at home and exemplify abroad. The award, he says, recognizes the individuals who have worked tirelessly, often in the face of adversity, to defend transparency, combat corruption and ensure accountability in their own countries.
